Martin Garner Spurn Young Birder of the Year 2019
Spurn Bird Observatory and the BTO are welcoming all young birders to take part in something special, the Martin Garner Spurn Young Birder event. This Spurn Migration Festival tradition is named after the late Martin Garner, a knowledgable, inspiring and encouraging birder who shared his expertise and passion for birds with so many, something this event aspires to do.
Anyone interested in taking part should submit an online questionnaire where they showcase their birding life and knowledge of birds. Six finalists are then chosen to attend the Spurn Migration Festival for a days birding with our expert judges in a welcoming, friendly environment. The day involves sea-watching, experiencing visible migration, watching birds on the Humber and in the bushes and answering a couple of theory questions inside. Our laid-back but enthusiastic judges are eager to share the magic of Spurn with you.
If you know a young birder who will be 16 or under on the 7th September, we would love to receive their online questionnaire and to read all about their passion for birding. Finalists must be available to travel to Spurn on 7th September, and be accompanied by a responsible adult.
